This week we have continued to chip away at the animation script for All Around You. Most of Monday was spent compiling all the messy bits and pieces we have done toward the animation thus far so that it resembles a nice, respectable lump of hard work. That includes all our brainstorms, lists, interviews, collages, influences and letters. In the afternoon I showed Cass and Peter a little drawing I had done whilst thinking about the ‘Inspiration List’ we had devised the week before (actually I was watching crap on TV). It got the vote and I think we’ll be continuing in a similar vein.
Then Wednesday arrived and da da da da it was time to develop a first draft for the animation script. As challenging as this task was Cass and I found that we work together really well. And in a stroke of (absolute) genius we found ourselves digging for words and sentences that were magical and faerie-like. Each time we reminded ourselves of this theme we got on a roll and finished the script before the end of the day. And we were very, very pleased with ourselves.
On Thursday our dynamic C&C duo was torn apart and I was allowed to attempt some Final cut editing on the BOOMALI piece we had filmed in week 3. I found this incredibly useful because I could see where we might improve next time we film on location. A few bad choices were made in lighting, subject positioning and audio interference. I think we’re part of a location shoot again next week so it should be interesting to put our skills to the test again. Oh, and I think I can see a bit of improvement in my editing ability! Even though I’m painfully slow at it, the tricks Peter taught Cass and I seem to have lifted the quality of my work. All I have to do now is find a decent, copyright free soundtrack for the piece that doesn’t include a banjo and I should be right.
